About MaxillumOur Journey
In 2008, Mr. J.V.P, a key figure in Spain's pool industry, saw an opportunity to bring a new lighting solution to the market. He decided to set up a factory in China to design and produce LED underwater pool lights. At the time, many pools in Europe were still using outdated halogen bulbs, and the market needed a more energy-efficient and eco-friendly solution. We’re incredibly grateful to Mr. V.P. for trusting us with this exciting business opportunity.
That same year, our founders—Mr. Ma, Allen, and David—teamed up with Mr. V.P. and his investment group to create a joint venture. This is when Maxillum was born. We became one of the first factories in China to design and manufacture pool lighting, and we were also pioneers in using ultrasonic fusion technology to create fully waterproof ABS housings for our LED PAR56 lights. This was a significant improvement over the older glass halogen PAR56 bulbs, which were prone to damage.
Innovation
Fast forward to 2015, when Mr. Ma visited the U.S. to explore the pool industry. During his trip to Los Angeles, he visited several pool product stores and noticed that many of them were selling Pentair niche lights and related parts. However, he quickly learned that store owners were dealing with a common issue: the bulbs used in these lights had a short lifespan, often needing replacement after just a year. On top of that, many of these lights were prone to leaks due to the traditional waterproofing methods, like silicone and wire rings, which deteriorated over time.
Mr. Ma took the faulty lights back to China, where he, Allen, and David spent months analyzing the issue and coming up with a solution. After months of hard work, they combined Pentair’s original hook design with Maxillum’s innovative, fully waterproof IP68 technology. The result was the W4012 model—an upgraded light that not only replaced the old Pentair niche lights but could also fit the bulbs of other brands like Hayward and Jandy. The W4012 was ETL certified and quickly became a hit in the U.S. market.
At Maxillum, we believe that growth comes from identifying challenges, creating solutions, and continuously pushing the envelope. Every problem we face is an opportunity to innovate.
Our Growth
In 2017, we formed a partnership with Mr. Hamed, a key player in the Saudi Arabian pool equipment industry. Mr. Hamed’s company supplies and installs pool equipment throughout the region and operates its own factory. During a trip to the U.S., he saw firsthand how Maxillum’s W4011 model solved the leakage issues with older niche lights. Impressed by our product’s quality, he reached out to us.
Mr. Hamed's company has steadily increased its purchases of pool lighting products from Maxillum year by year: $100,000 in 2017, $300,000 in 2018, $500,000 in 2019, $900,000 in 2020, $1.2 million in 2021, $1.1 million in 2022, $1.15 million in 2023, and projected to reach $1.18 million in 2024.
Furthermore, to enhance collaboration and maximize the strengths of both parties, Mr. Hamed and the Maxillum team have established a joint venture in Wuxi, China.
